Yess Essentials Exfoliating Facial Scrub
This smells like aniseeds (I think?). I don't particularly like the smell or taste of aniseeds but it adds to the naturalness of the product, I guess. The scrub particles are large but not scratchy nor compact in the product. The texture is very gummy and thick. To use I usually swipe it on my face and then wet my face to make it foam up, as I rub my face and upper neck. Though using it the opposite way works better (applying it on a wet face). Foaming face washes usually dry the beegeebusses out of my face at first use (makes my skin get grey and flaky - not good) however this does not ... if I use it once or twice a day (max) - any more and I'm a dusty faced gargoyle without a moisturiser.
This products claim to fame is that it contains African Black Soap. If you don't know what African Black Soap is - where have you been? African Black Soap is made from the ash of natural plant matter mixed with shea butter (a great emoliant and natural sun protector for skin). This combination makes a soap that has been said to help oily skin stay balanced, fade hyperpigmentation marks and generally make your skin soft, smooth and everlastingly youthful. Miraculous right? Well the African Black Soap Recipe has been used for centuries my guess is if it was useless why would it still be around? ... there's no smoke without fire - so your girl had to try it ... so I did the original kind. The original kind is the crumbly browny black soap that's usually sold on a African stall/shop or a trusted retailer. Listen soaps and me generally don't get on - I wet them too much, forget about them, they slide out my hands ... their demise is always eminent. Plus they dry out my skin ... I found the original type a bit on the drying side and it left me with a whitish residue on my face + under my care it didn't last long. Yet, I kinda liked the idea of African black soap and was/am passionate about finding a form of it that can fit in my regimen. To cut a long story short ...
For those who are wary that this may not be legit (you'd be surprised how many products claim to be real African Black Soap or Shea butter, but are either mixed with inferior ingredients i.e. mineral oil and or don't contain much of the said ingredients at all) don't fret its legit. This face wash foams up and does make my face nice and smooth. I use it more in the morning but it can also be my night cleanser - depends on how I'm feeling (women eh?). It's all good, hasn't burnt my skin like other face washes and though it gives a whitish/grey residue like the original black soap its not as drying.

Yess Essentials Nourishing Facial Cream
My mother said it smells funky (yeah I like asking my family about their thoughts on products too). Lol, I don't think so - it just smells like herbs and well shea butter. She asked me where I bought it and since it was at a local store she suggested that they had the product for years on the shelf and since it was natural it had gone off and I bought it. A lengthy story - perhaps true but, it works fine enough for me. After washing my face with a foamy face wash (either Yess Scrub or Botanics face wash) I use this moisturiser. It revitalises my face, making me look alive instead of a dusty faced goblin (goblin/gargoyle without moisturiser I can alternate from either look). I like it, its on the more oiler side of moisturiser but after using a face wash I need something rich on my skin to make my skin feel comfortable and look human - this does the trick.
